The First Annual Cast Iron Chef Cooking Campout

The Cast Iron Chef Competition and Campout was a huge success! Food was planned and prepared, drama and excitement were in the air, and rank advancements were met on this beautiful November weekend.

Three patrols met at the Woodbadge pavilion at Boxwell Reservation Camp Beany Elam, competing to claim the title of Cast Iron Patrol.

They each had to plan 2 Breakfasts, 1 Lunch and a dessert, knowing that they would be given a surprise ingredient 1 hour ahead of mealtime. They were also given the menu and recipe for one dinner to prepare as accurately as possible.

The judges would award points based on the food presentation, taste, timely delivery and how well they included the mystery ingredient.

Bonus points were awarded for:

Cleanliness
Number of different cooking methods used
Making a camp gadget
Patrol Spirit
Scouts were incredibly creative with their presentation and rolled with the punches when they were given a mystery ingredient.

In the end we had to crown a winner. They will hold the honor of the Cast Iron Patrol for the next year.
